This is a very good quality fixture. I did not have the same issues with quality that the previous reviewer specifies. The look is very fresh and modern and a nice change from the usual flying saucer looking fixtures. My only disappointment is the color. I do wish it was more of a fresh clean white. The shade is beautiful in a warm linen/ivory tone, but when lit it has a golden hue. It is still a very attractive fixture.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This light looks very nice in the picture. However, in real life it looks cheap. The shade is a dirty beige, not white and has a large, uneven seam. The diffuser is cheap plastic that is unevenly cut and doesn't fit flush to the inner shade. It looks like something that would be in the reject bin at a very low end hardware store. It would not be a good value at $15, let alone $150.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
